Determining the best configuration of risers is often a difficult and confusing task. You need to consider many variables in order to be able to select the riser set-up that works best. You should first get the following information:
- What are the dimensions of the area in which the risers will be staged? This will help you to know the limitations of space, side-to-side and front-to-back of the riser set-up.
- What are the grade levels of the students using the risers? You should treat high school students as adults.
- Will people be standing shoulder to shoulder, or will shoulders overlap?
Use the graphic below to visualize your setting. This is illustrating shoulder to shoulder with three different age levels. Then use the next chart to determine specific capacities.
